Chöd means “to cut.” The Chöd practice in the Bön tradition can help practitioners cut through attachments to self and reality, and confront spiritual issues. The practice can also help practitioners develop a mind that is open to seeing reality as it is. Human suffering primarily arises through self-cherishing. Cutting through this self-grasping mind is the main goal of transmuting undesirable circumstances and developing bodhichitta.
Chöd practice involves chanting, music, and visualization and is widely performed for healing physical and mental disorders.
